2012 | Black Mountains area | Mohave County, Arizona
The white thinly bedded silty limestone is part of the Bouse Formation.Early Pliocene alluvial-fan sedimentation northwest of Oatman in the Black Mountains was briefly interrupted by a period of lacustrine (lake) sedimentation. This is interpreted as indicating first arrival of Colorado River water to closed basins in the eastern Mojave Desert. (Photo by Jon Spencer)
