08/2011 | Cochise County, AZ | A giant desiccation crack (GDC) opened on a rural dirt road in Cochise County following a heavy monsoon rain and subsequent sheetflow. The crack is thought to be a GDC as opposed to an earth fissure due to the lack of differential subsidence in the area as well as adherence of the crack to the roadway where runoff has been concentrated.
