06/2009 | Horseshoe Reservoir, Maricopa County, AZ | A collapsed wall of Hohokam multi-roomed dwelling lies below the high water line of Horseshoe Reservoir. The blocks used to construct this structure are mantled in lake/reservoir sediments and dried algae. Evidence for Otter inhabitation of the ruins was apparent (crawdad hash and otter feces). The band of cottonwood in the distance marks the low-flow channel of the Verde River within the reservoir footprint. (Photo by Joe Cook)
