04/2010 | Lower West Clear Creek, Yavapai County, AZ | View upstream into West Clear Creek Canyon across expansive riparian zone of cottonwood and sycamore. The layered sequence in the background consists of late Miocene to Pliocene Verde Formation lacustrine deposits near and adjacent to the base of the cliffs, Permian Supai Sandstone at channel levels and partway up the slope, and capping Tertiary basalt flows.
