1908 | Salero mine, Santa Cruz County | A miner, with his straw hat and cigar, screens ore at the Salero mine located high in the Santa Rita Mountains. This mine was first worked by Jesuits in the 17th century and became one of the first mines worked by American miners after the Gadsden Purchase in 1854.
