October 21, 2012 | Weaver Needles Overlook, south-central Arizona | An incredible group of students from Scottsdale Community College finish a four-day geology trip across southeastern Arizona. Students read professional geology papers for each stop and presented at various stops, including this final stop at Freemont Saddle across from the prominent Weavers Needle. The needle is an erosional remnant of the Superstition Tuff, a violent pyroclastic eruption from ~18 million years ago. | Photo by Brian F. Gootee
