Arizona Geological Survey Continues to Grow

Over the past several years, we have successfully petitioned the National Science Foundation, US Geological Survey, and the US Department of Energy for funds to supplement our state budget. With those funds in hand, we are building the US Geoscience Information Network (GIN), collaborating with the Association of American Survey Geologists on the State Geothermal project, and mapping quadrangles north of Yuma, south of Tucson, and east of Prescott.

With our ongoing roles in various state and nationwide projects, the Arizona Geological Survey continues to grow and to fill positions in our expanding office. In the past few months, we have filled several new positions and we are currently in search of people who wish to join in our endeavours as employees or summer interns.

Our current openings for full-time employment are:

  • Chief Financial & Administrative Officer -- The Arizona Geological Survey is seeking a self-directed person to manage our geoscience information databases and related geologic map production work flow...
  • Technology Transfer Specialist -- The Arizona Geological Survey is seeking an individual with training and expertise in a wide breadth of areas to help lead a national effort communicating the technologies involved in the distribution of data services on the internet...
  • Geoinformatics Specialist -- The Arizona Geological Survey is seeking individuals with training and a strong interest in geoinformatics to assist with implementation and deployment of interoperable geoscience data services on the internet...

In our Tucson office, we are also looking for three student interns to fill positions in hydrology, graphics and web design, GIS analysis. In Phoenix, we have student intern positions in mineral resource data curation and data inputting.
