azgs uploads 30-years of geothermal reports and maps online
Arizona is home to at least 60 hot springs, a surface manifestation of shallow geothermal resources (source: National Geophysical Data Center).
Since the 1970s, AZGS has evaluated and characterized numerous potential geothermal hot spots throughout central and southern Arizona. Read More

Announcement: price hike - usgs & blm topographic map products
Back in March 2009, the US Geological Survey raised the price on their topographic products – the 1:24,000 and 1:100,000 topographic quadrangles – to $8.00 and $9.00, respectively.   At the time, Kevin Gallagher, Associate Director of the Geospatial Information Office, said, “The USGS takes this action reluctantly”. Azgs state map program 2010
AZGS geologists are gearing up for another State Map field season.   This year the focus is on southwestern Arizona near Yuma (three 7.5’ quadrangles), north-central Yavapai county north of Prescott (two 7.5’ quadrangles), and east of Tucson along the Pima-Cochise County line (one 7.5’ quadrangle).  See below for the titles of the six quadrangles scheduled for 2010.
